How can I find out if my name is listed on the Child Abuse Index (“CACI”) ? What can I do to ask that my name be removed from the CACI?

To find out if your name appears on California’s list of persons investigated for child abuse or neglect, you need to use the “Child Abuse Central Index Self-Inquiry” system.

Click here to perform a search.

Each child welfare agency is required to have a process by which a person can ask the agency to remove a name that the agency sent to the CACI for placement on the list. If your request for removal from the list is denied, you are entitled to a CACI grievance hearing at the agency, where you can present documents and evidence and arguments for why your name should be removed from the list.
