Victory for Foster Parents with California Court of Appeal Ruling

  • by

On 2-15-22 our office won a resounding victory for California’s foster parents when the California Court of Appeal ruled that L.A. Children’s Court Commissioner Stephen Marpet (well-known for his refusal to grant de facto status to foster parents) abused his discretion. Foster mom Heather had tried twice on her own to persuade the court to grant her request to be designated as the de facto parent of the toddler she raised. She tried a third time, with representation from our office. When her request was denied again, our office appealed and won.  View the appellate opinion here.
